PRIDE! Bicycle Poster Contest!
Grades 3-5
For Neighborhood Pride Week, September 18 - September 22, 2006, a Bicycle
Safety Poster Contest is underway. Read the following information and see if you have a chance to win a bike!!

Students should make a safety poster within the topic Bicycle
Safety, Pedestrian Safety or Riding In a Car Safely.

One winning poster from each grade level (3rd, 4th, and 5th) will be chosen.

All posters are collected and several are chosen to be photocopied and
used in a safety brochure. Students will receive their posters back after they have been copied.

The winning posters are enlarged, laminated and displayed at the PRIDE!
Community Night.

Winners reveive a bicycle, awarded by the mayor, at the
Community Night program.

Posters need to be completed by Wednesday September 13th. All entries
need to be given to homeroom teachers. Teachers will then give the posters to Ms. Tooman.

SCHOOL OPENING NEWSLETTER SETEMBER 2006
Dear Parnets/Families of Linocoln Park Students,
It is hard to believe that summer has once again come and
gone. I trust that you and your family have taken time to renew your mind, body and spirit this summer. I trust
you have spent time with friends and loved ones. The Lincoln Park Staff has taken time this summer to rest and relax.
We have also had your children on our minds over the summer. We are busy planning and preparing an exciting year for
both you and your child. We expect the best from each and every child and in return, we will devote all of our efforts
to helping each child reach his/her potential. In the following newsletter, you will find some IMPORTANT INFORMATION
regarding the beginning of the school year and look forward with anticipation to meet and greet students on Wednesday, August
30, 2006.

SCHOOL HOURS
Breakfast 9:00 a.m.
School Starting Time 9:30 a.m.
1st Lunch Period: 11:50 a.m. - 12:20 p.m. (Grades K, 2, 4)
2nd Lunch Period: 12:20 p.m. - 12:50 p.m. (Grades 1, 3, 5)
***PLEASE NOTE THAT STUDENTS NOT PARTICIPATING IN THE STRUCTURED
ACTIVITY SHOULD NOT ARRIVE AT SCHOOL BEFORE 9:00 A.M
BREAKFAST ROOM INFORMATION
Breakfast will be served in the lunchroom daily. Parents will be asked to enjoy
coffee in room 109 with one another, rather than in the Breakfast room. In this way, we will be able
to foster independence in all children. Thank you for your assistance.
HOW DO I FIND MY CHILD'S CLASSROOM?
We have as many people as possiable to direct you to the correct teacher/classroom
during the first several days of school. Your child can meet his/her teacher on the playground, lined up at the assigned
classroom number, which is painted on the blacktop.
BUS INFORMATION
- You should receive bus/route information within three days prior to the first day
of school. if you do not, please call us.
- Students are expected to follow each and every buss rule while at the bus stop and
on teh school bus. Failure to follow bus rules may result in suspension from school bus.
- Buses load and unload on the east side of the building. Bus students are dismissed
at 3:45 p.m. and are supervised by adults while waiting for the buses to arrive.
DISSMISSAL PROCEDURES
- All parent will need to complete the Dismissal Form, Identifying how their children
are to travel home.
- Students will be dismissed according to how they go home. Bus students will
go to the east hallway. After school programs which provide transportation will go to room 101 at 3:45 p.m.. Students
will be sidmissed from these areas.
- Car riders will be dismissed from their classrooms and go directly to the car in the
designated parking areas (northeast parking area and parking area to the southwest of the school).
- Parents or older siblings not attending Lincoln Park may pick up walkers and walk
along the designated dismissal walking paths.
- Lincoln Park students who pick up younger siblings or cousins will pick up these students
on the playground and walk along the designated path.
- Students who walk home and do not pick up other students will be dismissed immediately
from the playground and follow the designated path home.
- If you need to pick upu your child early, you must sign him/her out in the office.
Students will only be released to authorized adults as indicated on the emergency card.
TAKING MEDICATION DURING THE SCHOOL DAY
Prescribed medication for use by a student will be permitted only when verified by
a physician that the medication must be taken during school hours. All sudents taking medication must have a statement
signed by both the physician and the parent. Such forms are available in the school office. All medicaion is to
be brought to the main office and given to the secretary, nurse or to the principal. All medication bottles are to be
officially labeled with child's name and dosage of medication.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
- Each individual classroom teacher will send home a list of necessary school supplies.
Please do not buy your supplies untill you find out what your child will need, so that you do not spend money unnecessarily.
- Each student should have a bookbag that is clearly marked with his/her name and room
number. Please check and clean out your child's book back everyday.
PARENT VISITATION
We welcome your visit to Lincoln Park Elementary School and ask that you follow this
general visitation policy:
- Every adult must check in at the office and recive a "Visitor" badge
upon entering the building. Please enter through the front door.
- We ask that classroom visitations do not disrupt the school day or the learning process.
VOLUNTEERS/P.T.O
We would love to have parents volunteer at Lincoln Park E.S. We have a great
volunteer program with established guidelines. Please contact Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Crouch or the class room teacher if you
would like to volunteer.
Our goal this year is to have a Larger mor active P.T.O We will be sending you
more information about how to join.
SCHOOL PICTURES
School pictures are scheduled for Wednesday, October 4, 2006.
We are using the same photography company that we used last year which offers quality pictures at reasonable prices!
TOYS, RADIOS, ELECTRONIC DEVICES, ETC.
Toys, Radios, laser pointers, cell phones, pagers and any items that disrupts the
school day and learning process are not permitted and will be confiscated. These items will only be returned
to a parent. TOY GUNS/KNIVES ARE NEVER PERMITTED AT SCHOOL AND COULD RESULT IN SUSPENSION/EXPULSION.
Please monitor what your children are bring to school.
